Potters Lose Series Finale![]() Larry Fonseca throws to first base for an out in the Potters loss Thursday night. The Potters lost on Thursday Night to the Chico Heat 5-2. The Heat scored 3 runs in the 2nd inning off starter Josh Cooper thanks to a few extra base hits as well as a few infield hits and an error. The Potters would be held scoreless till the 5th inning when with 1 out Jacob Frederick singled. In what proved to be one of the key moments of the game, Frederick was thrown out at second on what appeared to be a possible hit and run. Jon Mook followed with a double and Larry Fonseca walked after him. Brian Morley then hit a ball off the wall for a triple to cut the Potters deficit to just 1 run. Charles Middleton struck out to end the inning. Manager Ryan Stevens said after the game "That's probably the play that sticks out in my mind, if we execute the play maybe we can take the lead in that inning and gather momentum. They made pitches to get themselves out of innings and we had an opportunity right there, just didn't go our way." The Heat would add single runs in the 6th and 7th innings to put themselves up 5-3. Then in the 8th inning after a Jon Mook leadoff single it appeared that the Potters could threaten again. The very next pitch however resulted in a fielder's choice and after a flyout and strikeout it ended the inning. After the game Ryan Stevens said, "We got a be a little more patient in that situation, they have guys throw hard but if we can make them throw pitches we can find mistakes and hit that way. Tonight just couldn't execute a few things and again some things didn't go our way." The Potters fall to 13-7 and the heat improve to 15-4. Jon Mook had a strong day at the plate going 3-5. Larry Fonseca and Zach Patterson each had 2 hits as well. The Potters head to Klamath Falls for a 3 game series then will return on Monday night for a three game series agains the Medford Rogues.
