Potters Off To Their Best Start In Team History

Potters Off To Their Best Start In Team History

It was a warm night at McBean, and more of the same success for your Lincoln Potters, who improved their winning streak to seven games in a 10-2 rout of the Menlo Park Legacy on Thirsty Thursday.

It was a slow start for the Potters offense, as they were held scoreless until the fourth inning by Menlo Park southpaw Ben Eisenhauer. TJ Oster would change that with an RBI single that plated Jacob Doyle to put the Potters up 1-0. Quickly following that would be a newcomer to the Potters lineup, Sean White out of Georgia Southern University. The Lincoln faithful would quickly get to know his name as he blasted a three-run homer over the left field wall to break the game open. 2 more RBIs would cross the plate that inning, courtesy of Cole Eaton and Hudson Brown, completing a six-run Potters fourth.

Those runs would be all the Potters needed, largely thanks to winning pitcher Anthony Martinez. The Sierra righty would get the nod on Sierra College night, and he did not disappoint, throwing four shutout innings and striking out four Legacy batters. Relieving Martinez would be another arm from the Wolverines, as Andrew Balentine would log two shutout innings of his own. Completing the final three innings for the pitching staff would be the combination of Jake McKowen, Ken Blankenship, and Bobby Romitti, logging one inning of work each.

The Potters’ 9-1 start is the best in team history through ten games, and their electrifying offense and stellar pitching staff are showing no signs of slowing down. The squad will go for their tenth win of the season tomorrow night against the Legacy, while also celebrating College Night and Armored Combat Night at the ballpark. The festivities are set to commence at 6:35pm.
