Potters Overcome 6-0 Deficit in Saturday Win

After three and a half innings of baseball on Friday night, hopes of the Lincoln Potters extending their win streak to four looked slim. All that changed after an offensive explosion in the bottom of the fourth saw the Potters score seven runs, ultimately holding for the rest of the game, winning by a final of 12-8 over the Alpha Prime Baseball Club.

Jacob Doyle would get the offense going with an RBI single, plating JT Waldon for the Potters’ first run of the game. Five more hits would be strung together in the inning, and the comeback was completed by a 2-run double from Jake Tandy to put the Potters ahead 7-6. Alpha Prime wouldn’t go away quietly however, taking the lead back in the top of the fifth with two runs of their own. That lead would not last long however, as Quincy Malbrough would slap another RBI single, plating two runs to put the Potters back ahead 9-8. That would be all the Potters needed, as they would hold Alpha Prime scoreless for the rest of the game.

Earning the win on the mound would be Micah Marquez, who logged three innings of relief out of the bullpen and was the beneficiary of both offensive comebacks. Marquez was followed by two innings of one-hit baseball from Jake McCowen, and a scoreless ninth inning from Nolan Thebiay in which he would retire the side all via the strikeout.

The win makes it four in a row for the Potters, who will finish out the week on Slice Sunday against Alpha Prime, and are looking to go undefeated in week two of their young season. First pitch is slated for 1:05pm.
