Potters Take Series vs Studs

By Jordan Georgeson

The Lincoln Potters won their fourth game in a row last night with their victory over the Seattle Studs. The Potters wasted no time getting on the board, putting up two runs in the first inning. They added three more in the second to pull out to an early 5-1  lead. That would finish the Potters scoring for the night as the Studs fought their way back in but couldn't complete the comeback. The Studs added runs in the fifth and eighth innings but the Potters hung on for the 5-3 victory. With last night’s win, the Potters have taken the series against the Studs and will go for a sweep today.

The Potters came out strong at the plate, with Trevor Haskins homering the first pitch that he saw to lead off the bottom of the first inning. Haskins has now homered in his last three games played. The Potters added one more in the first with a sacrifice fly off the bat of Jason Brandow to extend the lead to 2-0. Jacob Shaver blasted a towering three-run homer in the second inning to extend the Potters’ lead to 5-1. The homer was Shaver’s third of the season. Mason Holt and Jeffrey David each had themselves a 2-4 night at the plate, with Holt adding a double as well. In total, the Potters had five runs on seven hits and left seven runners on base.

Carter Dulaney made the start on the mound for the Potters last night, going four and one-third innings and allowing just two runs while retiring five batters on strikes. Delaney earned the win to improve his season record to 2-0. Jake Sapien took over for Delaney in the fifth inning and had a strong outing, not giving up any runs or hits in his one and two-thirds innings of work. Cameron Saso made his Potter debut last night for the final three innings, allowing just one run on three hits to finish out the game. Saso earned the save as well.

The Potters return to McBean today to go for the series sweep against the Studs and will have a day off tomorrow before facing the Walnut Creek Crawdads on Tuesday in Lincoln.
