The Lincoln Potters proved to be too much for the Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox last night, as they rallied in the late innings to cruise to a big win. The Potters wasted no time getting on the board, putting up three runs in the first inning of the ballgame. The Gold Sox would not go quietly however, putting up three of their own to tie it up in the bottom of the first. Each team traded runs in the fourth to make it 4-4. The Potters once again blew the game wide open in the later innings, scoring eight runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth to win the game 12-4. This was the eighth and final time the two teams were set to face off this season, the Potters took all eight games.

The long ball was working for Lincoln offensively, with three homers in the ballgame. Carson Blatnick and Trevor Haskins each belted their first homers of the year, while Chase Stanke hit his second of the season. All of the Potters home runs were solo shots. Stanke would finish the game 3-4 with two RBI and just a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. Trey Furrey and Evan Hafley each brought two home in the contest as well.  Furrey and Hafley each had two hits in the game. Temo Becerra drove in his first run of the season with an RBI single that snuck past the Gold Sox second baseman. Cameron Carr, Eddie Madrigal, and Jake Sapien each brought runners home as well. When the Potters offense scored they came in waves, putting up crooked numbers in four separate innings. The Potters totaled twelve runs on sixteen hits with just six runners left on base. 

Lincoln’s pitching was clutch all night, fighting off the Gold Sox multiple times when they threatened with runners in scoring position. Jose Ledesma made his second start of the season for the Potters and went three innings, giving up three runs on five hits, no earned runs, and striking out four. Ryan Bruno relieved Ledesma in the fourth and struck out seven in just two innings of work. Bruno didn't give up any hits but did allow one run. Angel Cespedes earned the win in relief while keeping the Gold Sox off of the board in the sixth and seventh innings despite them threatening. Cespedes now improves to 2-0 on the season. Jojo Villareal and Daniel Sotelo closed things out on the mound for Lincoln, allowing just one hit in the final two innings. 

“It’s really important that we’re playing well, I mean, we struggled a bit early and in the mid-season. I just feel like our team chemistry is great right now.” said pitching coach Jesse Garcia about the team’s success as they prepare for the second half of CCL play. “The boys are all having fun and it’s a fun mindset when we come out here.”

The Potters are back in action at Historic McBean Stadium tonight against the Walnut Creek Crawdads as they open up the second half of CCL play. The Potters are currently tied with the Solano Mudcats for second place in the CCL North Division.
