Potters Fall To Packers

By Jordan Georgeson

It was another night to forget at McBean tonight as the Potters fell in another blowout loss, this time at the hands of the Healdsburg Prune Packers. Healdsburg wasted no time getting on the board, putting up a crooked number while fans were still finding their seats. The Prune Packers used a big home run and three-RBI double as catalysts to jump out to a 7-0 lead in the first. They added two more homers in the third to push the lead up to double digits. The Potters were able to get two back in the fourth but couldn't get anything else cooking at the plate for the rest of the night. Healdsburg put up fourteen total runs across the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings to pull ahead 24-2 and slam the door on any hopes the Potters had on a late comeback.

The Potters had another rough night at the plate, only scoring two runs on five hits in the contest. The highlight of the night offensively came on a RBI single by Quinton Hall in the fourth inning, which got the Potters on the board. Lincoln really struggled making contact with the Packers’ pitching, striking out seventeen times and only walking once.

Pitching was once again a problem for the Potters tonight as they walked ten batters and gave up nineteen hits in the ballgame. The Packers took advantage of walks and errors by the Potters all night, putting up multiple runs in five different innings. When the Packers did swing the bats, they were bringing their runners home with twenty-one RBI as a team in the ballgame. The Potters did have some pitching standouts tonight however, with Jose Ledesma only giving up one run on a solo shot and striking out three in his one and two thirds innings.

The Potters hit the road for the next two days as they have the Prune Packers in Healdsburg tomorrow night. After that they head up the road to Marysville for another game against the Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox.
