The Lincoln Potters found their way back into the win column on Tuesday night with a victory against the Solano Mudcats. The Potters wasted no time getting on the board as they had two runners on before their first out and a run on the board before their first hit. The Potters had the lead for all nine innings of the game. Their first run came from a sacrifice fly by Evan Hafley in the first inning. Lincoln followed up with another run in the second when Jason Brandow was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. The Mudcats scored one on a bizarre passed ball followed by two errors to cut the Lincoln lead in half in the second inning. In the fourth inning, Jason Brandow launched a massive two-run homer that extended the Potters’ lead to 4-1. They added another in the sixth when Jack Grant brought Quinton Hall home with a sacrifice fly. Solano scored once in the eighth but never really threatened all night and the Potters secured a 5-2 victory. With this win, they snap a five-game losing streak and improve to 10-7 on the year.

The Potters’ offense took control of the game early, stringing together multiple walks and productive outs to take the lead in the top of the first. Jason Brandow had himself another big game, going one-for-three with three RBI, a home run, and a walk. Quinton Hall had himself a two-for-four night and scored two runs. Jack Grant had a two-for night as well including an RBI on a sac fly in the sixth inning. Evan Hafley had another RBI, his fourth this season in just six games played. 

Starter Carson Kohls had a dominant start on the mound for the Potters, going five innings and allowing just two hits and one run. Kohls struck out four batters and only walked one, earning his first win of the season. Brandon Gomez entered the game in the sixth and had another impressive outing, going two innings and only allowing one hit. Gomez didn’t allow any runs or walks. Ryan Bruno pitched one inning in the eighth and was able to get out of a jam with minimal damage, only allowing one run. Eli Garcia entered in the ninth to close the door on the Mudcats and did just that as he retired the side in order on just ten pitches to earn his second save of the season.

The Potters are back in action at Historic McBean Stadium on Wednesday night as the rival Prune Packers are back in town. The Potters are just a half game behind the Prune Packers for first place in the CCL North Division.
