Potters Fall to PackersPotters Fall to Prune Packers By Jordan Georgeson The Lincoln Potters fell in their CCL home opener on Wednesday night to the Healdsburg Prune Packers 5-1. The Prune Packers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first thanks to an RBI single by Guy Garibay. Healdsburg added to their lead in the third with a towering three-run homer to right field by Blake Burke to pull ahead 4-0. The Potters were able to get one back in the fourth on an RBI single by Evan Hafley. Hafley’s RBI was also his first hit in a Lincoln Potters uniform. The Prune Packers added what would become the final run of the game in the seventh inning to stretch the lead to 5-1. With tonight’s loss the Potters fall to 9-3 on the season and 1-1 in CCL play. The Potters struggled at the plate all night, only getting two hits in the game. The offensive bright spot of the night came on an RBI single by Evan Hafley in the fourth inning. Unfortunately, that would be the only offense of the game for Lincoln as they could only bring one run across the plate in the contest. The Potters' bullpen impressed once again on Wednesday in what seems to be a nightly occurrence for them. Jakob Frederick entered the game in relief in the fourth inning and shut down the Packers bats for most of his appearance. Frederick struck out five batters in a row and retired the first six that he faced. He gave up two hits and one run in his two and two thirds innings, while striking out six. Jake Sapien made his Potter debut in the seventh inning, allowing only one hit while striking one out as well. The Potters are back in action tomorrow night on the road against the Solano Mudcats in another CCL North Division matchup. The Mudcats are currently 0-2 in CCL play to start the season.
