Potters Drop Series Finale

Recap 6/30
The Lincoln Potters rally fell short Sunday night, as they were able to bring the tying run to the plate, but were unable to produce the needed offense, as they dropped the final game of the series to the Capitalists by a final score of 5-3. Starting pitcher Cade Farr had his best start of the season, striking out nine hitters over his 4.0 innings of work, but got stuck with the loss. Steven Zobac received the win for the Caps. The Potters bullpen was able to slow down the Capitalists’ offense, as they allowed only one run through their five innings of collective work. While the pitching staff as a whole racked up 20 strikeouts on the night. Finding themselves trailing 3-0 entering the bottom of the third inning, the Potters’ Thomas Greely (1 BB, 1 R) was able to work a lead-off walk, advanced to third, and eventually found his way home after a wild pitch to get them on the board. With the Caps getting a run back in the fourth, Isaiah Garcia (2-4, 1 2B) and Matt Lopez (1 1B) connected on back-to-back singles to get the offense started in the bottom half of the inning. After a sacrifice bunt, Jordyn Berry (1 1B, 1 RBI) lined an RBI single into left field to drive in Garcia, followed by a Parker Kelly (1 RBI, 1 BB) sacrifice fly that scored Lopez and brought the Potters to within one. With a bases loaded walk in the top of the seventh, the Capitalists increased their advantage to two and were able to hold a 5-3 lead entering the bottom of the ninth. With Nolan Young drawing a one out walk, the Potters were able to bring the tying run to the plate, but were unable to complete the comeback. Lincoln now falls to 12-11-1 on the season, and remain in second place of CCL North with a 5-6 league record. The Potters will now travel to San Francisco for a two-game series with the Seals before returning to McBean Stadium for a game with the Sierra Wolves on the Fourth of July! Gates open at 5:05 p.m., with first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m. and a firework display to follow the conclusion of the game.
