Top Speed Tops Potters

A beautiful Wednesday night out at McBean Stadium for some Potters baseball! The Potters hosted nationally ranked Top Speed Baseball club for game one of a two game series. Top Speed baseball tops the Potters by a score of 8-6, and lead the series 1-0. The nationally ranked team immediately started making noise, as Kyle Orloff (3-for-5, 4 RBIs, HR) sent a ball sailing well over the fence in left field bringing across three runs. The Potters answer back in the bottom of the first with a Zach Patterson (1-for-3, and RBI and two walks) RBI single! Down 4-2, in the bottom of the third, Jordan Berry (2-for-5, a double and an RBI) lasers an RBI double which gave the Potters a one run lead. George Chapa (3.0 IP, 5 K’s, 0 ERA) came in relief during the bottom of the third inning, in a troubled Top Speed situation. Chapa closes the door and gave Top Speed 3.0 solid shutout innings. Unfortunately, the Potters were unable to get any momentum while Chapa was on the hill. Top of the seventh inning, JC Santos gets a pinch hit two run double for Top Speed which gave them a 7-5 lead. That double allowed the game winning run to cross the plate. Tyler Cochran receives his first loss of the summer, in his lone inning of work. George Chapa receives the win for today’s game, while Ryan Valentine tallies a save. The Potters caught a second wind in the bottom of the ninth, but the one run on two hits could not seal the deal. Make it back out tomorrow night for Feather Falls Thirsty Thursdays! Potters square up with Top Speed Baseball Thursday, June 20th for the final game of the series.
