BLOOM FINALIZES POTTERS COACHING STAFF

Lincoln, Calif. - The 2017 Lincoln Potters coaching staff has been finalized with the addition of four experienced coaches.

Manager Eric Bloom bolstered his staff by adding hitting coach Andrew Castaneda, pitching coach Coleman Stephens, and assistant coaches Beau Moorehead and Mick Lancaster.

Castaneda comes to the Potters from San Jose, CA and bodes experience coaching both college and high school players in the Trosky/Kali Organization and as the Piedmont Hills High School (San Jose, CA) head varsity coach. He played centerfield for San Jose City College before transferring to Colorado State University - Pueblo. He was the 2009 Santa Clara County Hot Stove Junior College Player of the Year and earned All-Conference selections both years while at Pueblo.

“No one I've played this game with played with more confidence and swagger than this guy. He brought his best self and a lot of excitement to the yard every time he stepped on that diamond, and I expect him to do the same as a coach.” said Bloom.

Pitching coach Coleman Stephens is an Amarillo, TX native. Coleman pitched in college for Midland College, Texas Tech University, and Colorado State University - Pueblo. He then went on to pursue a career in professional baseball by playing for six different independent teams over the course of four seasons.

“Stephens will be the pitching coach and brings with him a very competitive mind set and incredible work ethic, as well as 4 seasons of minor league ball. I think he can really help the young arms we have on this staff build routines and have a strong, positive mindset on the mound.” said Bloom.

Beau Moorehead will act as an assistant coach with emphasis on pitching. He currently finished his second season as the pitching coach for William Jessup University. Moorehead came to Jessup after serving as the pitching coach at San Francisco State for seven years. Prior to starting his coaching career, Moorehead was a starting pitcher at San Francisco State for two seasons.

“Moorehead will help with the pitching staff and be our bullpen coach. He brings a lot of experience as an assistant coach at the D2 and NAIA level and will be relied on to help guide these young players.” said Bloom.

Mick Lancaster will serve as the team’s first-base coach during the 2017 season. Mick has a long history of teaching the game of baseball at both college and professional levels,  and also served as an Associate Scout for the Miami Marlins for 10 years.

“Coach Lancaster will be our first-base coach and will help with the infielders. He has an extensive background of playing and coaching at the minor league level and will be good for the players to have around and share his wealth of knowledge.” said Bloom.
