Santini's Strong Debut Leads to Series Win

Gieseke goes 3-5 with 2 RBI.

The Potters won on Wednesday night by a score of 15-1. The Potters got an incredible debut from catcher JC Santini who had 3 hits including 2 homeruns, and 5 RBI. Santini hit a 2 run homerun in then a 3 run homerun in the 6th. Santini said after the game "I was just trying to put a good swing on the ball and it went out twice. Pretty good feeling, I've never hit 2 before in a game so it felt good." Manager Ryan Stevens said "He comes in and is incredibly professional. He acts like a big leaguer, talks to our pitcher right away about what they like to throw and in what counts they like to throw certain pitches. He called and caught a great game tonight as well. I've said it before, if you can get offense from the catcher that's huge plus and he provided a ton of offense tonight." The Potters catcher adds a lot of power to an already powerful lineup as the Potters hit their 57th and 58th homeruns last night to lead the Great West League.

The Potters also featured some great pitching in the game as well. Ryan Gil got the start and went 5 innings allowing 3 hits and 3 walks and struck out 5. The one run allowed came in the third inning on a Brody Clifford home run. Gil earned the win for the Potters to improve to 2-0 on the year. The Potter bullpen fired 4 more scoreless innings as the combination of  Craigh Schmich, Brock Ragatz, Micah Gunter and Ian Manzo allowed 3 hits and walked one while striking out 5. The Potters bullpen has fired 8 and 2/3 scoreless innings in this series. "It's different guys coming in and being effective. When your number gets called it's important to go out there and do your job, tonight everyone I called for did their job." The Potters improve to 30-20 on the year while the Gold Sox fall to 14-34.

The offense had a big night collecting 19 hits on the night. Logan Wurm had three of them with 2 doubles in the game. Brett Gieseke also had 3 hits in the game as well. The Potters bats will look to stay hot in order to secure the series sweep tonight as Hayden Nabers takes the mound for the Potters. Gates open at 5:30 and first pitch is at 6:35.
