Potters Struggle to Score in 8-1 Loss

Potters Struggle

The Lincoln Potters had a stellar outing from starting pitcher Gerald Hanson but struggled a bit with timely hitting in their 8-1 loss to the league-leading Healdsburg Prune Packers tonight at McBean Stadium.

While Hanson pitched a solid eight innings, throwing 96 pitches and allowing just three runs on six hits, the Potters offensively stranded nine runners, including the bases loaded in the fourth inning. Woody Brennan came on in the ninth allowing just one earned run.

The Lincoln Potters ( 32-15, 12-11) had 7 hits tonight, all coming from Kyuss Gargett, Luke Mansy and Zach Chamizo. Three of their hits went for extra bases. Gargett had a double in the 5th and Chamizo had a one in the 2nd and one more in the 9th. Chamizo’s line drive to left-center in the 2nd scored Will Lindberg, who walked and stole second.

The Potters conclude this very important two-game series with the Prune Packers on the road tomorrow at 6:05pm. The Potters return home on Friday for their 3 game series against league rivals, the Solano Mudcats. These next four games are very important for the Potters playoff hopes. Friday’s game is Fan Appreciation night  and Saturday’s is Star Wars night with a jersey auction. Potter up!
