The beginning of the action on Sunday was the continuation of Saturday night’s suspended league contest between the two PEL teams, as action resumed in the top of the 12th inning with the game tied at seven. An automatic runner would start at 2nd base for both teams, and Medford would take the lead once again on a sacrifice fly, claiming an 8-7 lead. The Potters would need to come back for the fourth consecutive inning, and that they did, scoring the tying run on a bases-loaded walk drawn by JR Freethy. One batter later, Cade Parker would keep the Potters’ win streak alive with a walk-off sacrifice fly to seal a 9-8 victory. On the mound, Ken Blankenship would earn his first win with the Potters after his one inning of work in the 12th, while also keeping his perfect ERA intact.

The regularly scheduled programming would begin shortly after, with the Potters and Rogues beginning the final game of their 3-game series in Lincoln. Medford would strike quickly, scoring two runs in the top of the the first, taking the lead for the first and only time of the game. Sean White would respond with an RBI single of his own in the bottom of the first, but the Rogues offense would quickly put the game out of reach, scoring seven runs across the next four innings. A mostly quiet remainder of the game would follow, but a special moment for two Potter brothers would come in the top of the 9th.

A new pitcher-catcher battery would enter the game in the top of the ninth, brothers Gabe and Ricky Maya. Gabe would throw a scoreless ninth inning to his catcher brother Ricky, in which he would strike out the side. After this stellar performance, he was greeted at the first base line with a passionate embrace from his younger brother, celebrating a special performance and a special night for the Maya family, one that they would dedicate to their late mother.

Ultimately, the Medford rogues would win the series finale in Lincoln by a score of 11-6, ending the Potters win streak at six games, and securing Medford’s first PEL win. Medford improves to 1-5 in conference play, while the Potters drop to 5-1. The next action will take place on Tuesday night against the Solano Mudcats for another PEL showdown starting at 6:35pm.
