The Potters finished up a three game series with the Menlo Park Legends on Sunday afternoon. It was a completely different game compared to the last two, which featured a total of thirty one Potter runs. 

Levi Sotomayor (Sac City) made his second start of the young season. Sotomayor was dialed in during Sunday’s game. He started with two scoreless innings while only allowing one hit. Unfortunately, after the second Sotomayor began to experience dehydration and was forced to exit the game. 

The Potters got the scoring started early in the first inning. Aiden Isola (Sac City) was able to reach on an error, bringing Cade Sanchez (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) to the plate. Sanchez produced yet again, driving in Isola on a base hit to center field, to give the Potters a 1-0 lead.  

Sunday’s ball game had a much different feel than the previous two games in the series. It was a true pitchers duel, as Connor Kligman threw six one run innings for the Legends. Although Sotomayor was forced to exit early, the Potters pitching never wavered. 

Logan Bell (Bowling Green State) followed Sotomayor on the mound. Bell continued his dominance out of the bullpen for the Potters. He went three innings, allowing zero runs, and striking out four batters, helping the Potters maintain their 1-0 lead. Bell will continue to play a major role out of the bullpen for Jon Peters, as the team approaches CCL league play.

The game began to fly by as we approached the later innings. Eric Vasser (Sac City) replaced Bell on the mound in the sixth inning. Vasser was displaying a filthy arsenal, with a fastball touching 90MPH. The Legends were able to pick up the tying run off Vasser, thanks to an RBI single from Jacob Froess. 

Jeric Curtis (Texas Tech) brought the fireworks in this afternoon's game. His opposite field three run blast gave the Potters a 4-1 lead in the seventh inning, which they would never give back. Curtis displayed his full five tool ability racking up two stolen bases, as well as a great running catch in the gap to save a double. 

Bryan Garrett (Sac City) started the eighth inning on the mound. Garrett struggled to find the strike zone as he walked three batters before allowing an RBI single. He was replaced with one out in the inning by Devin Marton (University of Nevada Reno). 

Marton slammed the door on a late game rally from the Legends. He went one and two thirds of an inning, striking out three Legends hitters, and earning himself the save. With the series sweep, the Potters extended their win streak to four games and improved to 5-3 on the season. 

The Potters have an off day on Monday June 5th. Tuesday night June 6th, the Potters hit the road for their first road game of the 2023 season, as they take on the Sonoma Stompers. Tune in to the live stream on YouTube, brought to you by the great Stones McCoy.
