Anthony Perez (Cal State East Bay) made his second start of the season, both coming on Friday night games. Pitching coach, Brock Ragatz said he wants to see his staff limit the free passes. Perez couldn’t quite do that, as he walked the first two batters of the game. He was able to escape the inning allowing no runs, thanks to a perfect throw from RF Brandon Springer (William Jessup) as he gunned down the runner attempting to tag up and score. 

The Legends picked up their first run in the second inning, on a 6-4 fielder’s choice, which put them up 1-0. Perez settled in after allowing the unearned run. He followed with two scoreless innings, which now gives him back-to-back starts going four innings. 

Patience at the plate continues to play a key role in the Potters recent success. Two walks to open the inning set up first and second with no outs. Aiden Isola (Sac City) came through huge, with the first Potter homerun of the season. It was a three-run shot, projected at 390FT via Trackman, that gave the Potters a 4-1 lead.

Levi Sotomayor (Sac City) continues to produce at the plate, as he roped a two run double into right field, which extended the Potters lead to 6-1. Kevin Haynes (Sac State) made his Potters debut on the mound. He tossed a 1-2-3 inning, to keep the Potters lead at five. 

The bottom of the seventh inning was massive for the Potters. The game began to get out of hand, as Ben Romano (Tulane University) launched a two-run homerun over the left field fence to extend the Potters lead to seven. The moonshot off Romano’s bat had a projected distance of 405FT and an exit velocity of 106MPH via Trackman. 

The Potters were able to draw an astounding fifteen walks on the night. Two walks to open the inning, allowed JT Maloney (Sac City) to come up in an RBI opportunity. He delivered with a two-run single to left which extended the Potters lead to 12. 

With the massive lead, Jon Peters decided he would save the rest of his bullpen arms. He called on Brandon Springer (William Jessup) to close out the ball game. Springer, who is not known for being a pitcher, tossed a scoreless ninth inning, racking up two strikeouts.
