The Lincoln Potters broke the fireworks out early in their series finale tonight against the Novato Knicks. Lincoln again wasted no time getting out to a commanding lead, putting up three runs in the first and six in the second to pull ahead 9-0. The two teams traded runs in the third inning and the Knicks added two in the fourth to make it a 10-3 ballgame. Both offenses were silenced for the rest of the game except for one run from the Knicks in the sixth. In the end the Potters pulled through with a 10-4 victory to sweep the weekend series and win their sixth in a row. 

Lincoln’s offense got off to an explosive start tonight, scoring three runs in the first inning. Mason Holt got the scoring started, coming home on an error by Novato’s catcher. Jake Sapien and Chase Stanke each brought a run in the first as well on a groundout and single respectively. The Potters picked up right where they left off in the second inning, with Drew Stahl leading off with a triple and scoring on an RBI double by Trevor Haskins. Jason Brandow blasted a three run homer to left-center field to blow the game wide open and give the Potters a 7-0 lead. Jeffrey David hit an RBI single and Trace Willhoite blasted an RBI double down the left field line to finish the scoring in the inning. Brandow finished the Potters’ scoring with a sacrifice fly in the third inning. The Potters scored ten runs on twelve hits and left seven runners on base.

Starter Eli Garcia had a solid outing on the mound, earning his third win of the season. Garcia went four innings, allowing six hits, three runs, two earned runs, and striking out eight without walking a single batter. The Potters finished the game with fresh bullpen arms, using five different pitchers to pitch the final five innings. Jack Horn entered in the fifth and got into a jam but kept the Knicks off of the board with two big strikeouts with runners in scoring position. Brandon Gomez pitched the sixth, allowing just one run on one hit. Logan Bell, Jojo Villareal, and Marlin Brucato all pitched the final three innings without allowing a single hit to shut the Knicks offense down late. 

The Potters are off tomorrow before they hit the road for a three-game series with their former Great West League rival, the Medford Rogues starting on Tuesday. The Potters return to McBean on Saturday July, 10th.
