The Lincoln Potters won their fourth straight game tonight in a close battle against the Novato Knicks. Once again the Potters got off to an early lead, pulling ahead 3-0 in the first inning. The Knicks wouldn’t go quietly however, putting up four runs in the third inning to take a 4-3 lead. The Potters answered back quickly in the bottom of the inning, retaking the lead 6-4. Each team added a run in the fourth but remained mostly scoreless for the remainder of the game. The Potters added a big insurance run in the eighth to hang on for an 8-5 victory. With this win the Potters improve to 17-15 on the year and have won six of their last seven games. Tonight was also a special victory for manager Ryan Stevens, who secured his 100th career win as a manager. 

“It feels great man, it’s...all we want to do is win in Lincoln. Everybody that’s came in and worn a Potters jersey has been special to me. We have a good group of guys this year and it;s special that they get to be a part of it.” said Stevens after the game.

Lincoln found their offense tonight in PAC-12 products Jacob Shaver and Garret Forrester. Forrester had another RBI triple tonight in the first inning that put the Potters up 2-0. He added another RBI on a double in the third inning as well. Forrester was just a home run shy of the cycle on a night that he went 3-4 with two RBI. Jacob Shaver had himself a night to remember at the plate, blasting a towering solo homer over the left field fence to lead off the fourth inning. Shaver also added a crucial insurance run in the eighth on an RBI triple. Jason Brandow brought two runners home tonight, while Quinton Hall and Jeffrey David brought one in as well. 

The Potter bullpen was dominant once again tonight, allowing just one run and shutting out the Knicks after the fourth inning. The bullpen has allowed just two runs in their last twenty-one innings. Matt Ornelas was impressive in his Potter debut, going three innings and allowing just one run on three hits while striking out three. Josh Cohen entered the game in the seventh and kept the Knicks off the board while striking out three of his own. Marlin Brucato entered the game in the ninth to shut the door and did just that on only four batters faced. Brucato earned the save for his first of the year. 

The Potters are back in action tomorrow night against the Novato Knicks once again for game two of the three-game weekend series. First pitch tomorrow is scheduled for 6:05pm.
