The Lincoln Potters had another night to remember in Fairfield last night as they blew out the Solano Mudcats for a second straight game. Both teams were scoreless in the first two innings until Lincoln got on the board in the third thanks to a two-run blast by Garret Forrester. The Mudcats got one back in the bottom of the inning but that would be their only run of the ballgame. The Potters put up crooked numbers in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings to blow the game wide open in their favor and win 13-1. With this win the Potters are now just a half-game out of second place in the CCL North Division.

The Potters’ offense came from a mix of new and familiar faces on Wednesday night as they tallied nineteen hits, with nine going for extra bases. Garret Forrester hit his first home run as a Potter with a two-run shot to left field that got the team on the board in the third. Jake Sapien and Jeffrey David both had strong contributions to the offense, with both players going three for five with three RBI in the contest. Mason Holt brought home two runs in the game as well on a two for five night. Quinton Hall was a menace at the plate for Solano’s pitching, going five for six with three doubles. Trace Willhoite and Trey Furrey both added an RBI to their season total as well.

Lincoln’s pitching was once again dominant from start to finish, only allowing one run in the game. Starter Jeremy Hassel got into a jam early in the first but was able to escape it without any damage. Hassel went three and one-third innings and only allowed one run while striking out four. Marlin Brucato entered the game with one out in the fourth and shut down the Mudcat offense, only allowing one baserunner in his two and two-thirds innings on the mound. Daniel Sotelo, Jose Ledesma, and Ryan Bruno each pitched one inning and were able to keep the Mudcats off the board. For the second straight game, the Potters didn’t commit any errors.

“I think it’s important to play your best baseball in the second half of the season and our guys are starting to get familiar with each other. Hitting, pitching, and defense are all coming together. It feels pretty good as a manager right now.” said Ryan Stevens after the game about his team’s recent performance.

The Potters are on the road tonight against the Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox but will return home tomorrow for game one of a three-game series against the Novato Knicks.
