Potters Win Big vs Mudcats

By Jordan Georgeson

The Lincoln Potters won a wild, high scoring affair on Saturday night when the Solano Mudcats came to town. For the second night in a row the Potters wasted no time getting on the board, putting up nine runs in the first inning to pull out to a 9-1 lead. The Mudcats clawed their way back slowly, chipping away at the lead and cutting it to 10-4 at one point. The Potters blew the game wide open in the sixth inning by putting up eight runs. The Mudcats reduced the lead to single digits again, putting up eight total runs in the seventh and eighth innings to make the score 18-12. The Potters slammed the door shut in the bottom of the eighth however, putting up six runs to close out the Mudcats and win the game 24-12. Both teams combined for thirty hits in the game.

The Potters offense was the story of the night as they came out loud for the second game in a row. Mason Holt started the scoring when the Mudcats walked him with the bases loaded and no outs to get the Potters on the board. Jeffrey David answered the bell in the very next at-bat with a two-RBI double to give the potters a 3-1 lead. Quinton Hall brought home two immediately after and Kenneth Jimenez joined the party as well for the Potters to pull out to a five-run lead before they recorded any outs. Jacob Shaver put the cherry on top with a three-run homer to put the Potters up 9-1. The Potters were far from done however, putting up crooked numbers in the sixth and eighth innings to pile onto their already big lead. The Potters totaled twenty-four runs on eighteen hits and left just seven on base.

The highlight of the night came on a towering three-run blast from Daniel Susac in his highly anticipated return to the Potters. Susac is one of the top college baseball prospects in the country and was a Freshman All-American at Arizona this season. Quinton Hall had himself another night to remember, going five for six with seven RBI on the night as well as three runs scored. Jacob Shaver, Jeffrey David, and Drew Stahl had good nights as well, with each player getting two hits and three RBI on the night. The Potters had twenty-two total RBI in the ballgame.

The Potters are on the road on Sunday for a league game against the Healdsburg Prune Packers. They will have the day off on Monday before welcoming these same Mudcats to town on Tuesday night.  Watch the Potters live on Facebook and listen on Potters Radio via the mixlr app. Also follow along on twitter @LincolnPotters to get live updates!
