Potters Pitching Dominant is Series Finale vs Gold Sox

By Jordan Georgeson

The Potters shut the Gold Sox bats down all afternoon to win the weekend finale 10-3 and sweep the opening series. The Potters got ahead early, scoring 2 runs in the 1st and 3 in the 2nd to jump out to a 5-0 lead. They added more insurance in the 5th to stretch the lead to 6-0. The Gold Sox were able to manage a small rally of 3 runs in the 6th but the Potters answered back with a 4 run 8th inning to win the game 10-3.

Trace Willhoite, Mike Shoenberger, and Quinton Hall made up a majority of the Potters’ offense for the day, with each player bringing in 2 RBI. Hall continues to impress at the plate as he is still batting above .500 to start out the season. His 2 RBI today brings his season total up to 13. WIllhoite is not far behind as he brought his 11th run of the season home.

The story of the day was by far the pitching by the Potters. Starter Easton Turnage became an instant fan favorite in his Potter debut with 5 innings pitched, no runs allowed, and 11 strikeouts on the day. Turnage earned the win as well. Jose Ledesma entered the game in relief and pitched 3 innings, striking out 4. Ledesma was thrown into the lineup quickly as he reported to the Potters last night and has already become a critical piece to the Lincoln bullpen.

The Potters have Memorial Day off tomorrow but will welcome the Sacramento Yankees to town on Tuesday for the first of a brief two game series. First pitch for both games will be at 6:05pm.
