Potters Win in Wild Military Appreciation Night

By Jordan Georgeson

The Lincoln Potters defeated the Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox 13-9 in a wild Military Appreciation Night game to improve to 3-0 on the season. The Gold Sox once again jumped out to an early lead scoring 3 runs in the 1st inning after capitalizing on a few Potter errors. The Potters would answer back with 2 in the bottom of the 1st after taking advantage of the Gold Sox errors in return. The Gold Sox jumped out to a 6-2 lead but the Potters once again proved to be a team that refused to quit. After several lead changes the Potters would finally come out on top 13-9. Both teams combined for 11 errors in total.

Catcher Cameron Carr had a big night at the plate, going 3 for 5 with two singles and a double. Carr would also add 2 runs to his total including what would be the eventual winning run. Kade Turnage impressed again at the plate, going 2 for 3 with 2 walks on the night as well. Turnage also added 2 RBI in the contest.

One of the bright spots on the mound was pitcher and seasoned Potter veteran Eli Garcia pitching in relief. Garcia pitched 3 innings and only allowed 1 hit and 1 earned run while striking out 3 batters and earning the win. Josh Cohen once again entered in the 9th to close the game out and did just that with two strikeouts in a 1-2-3 inning.

The Potters are back in action tomorrow afternoon as they welcome back the Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox to McBeanto wrap up the opening series.. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05pm for the Potters first Sunday Funday of the season.
