The Lincoln Potters welcomed fans back to The Bean in exciting fashion tonight as they beat the Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox 19-5 to open the season. The Potters pulled ahead early in the first, scoring 4 runs before they recorded an out on the young season. The Gold Sox would battle back to even the score with help of a big 3 run homer from right fielder Brandon Motheral. The Potters answered back, scoring runs in both the bottom of the third and fourth to pull ahead 6-4. Lincoln rallied for 6 runs in the 5th inning to widen the gap to 12-4. They kept the momentum rolling from the big fifth and put up crooked numbers in three of their final four innings at the plate, including 7 total runs in the seventh and eighth innings.

Newcomer Quinton Hall introduced himself to Lincoln in style going 5 for 6 with 2 homers, a triple, and 7 RBI on the night. Kade Turnage of Tarleton State also put together a 5 for 6 night with 5 singles in the contest. The Potters arms also showed up for the season opener with Brad Jones allowing just one earned run in 5 innings pitched in relief of starter Matt Voelker. The team was aggressive on the basepaths, swiping 5 bases on the night.

Former Potters player, intern, and pitching coach Brock Ragatz made his managerial debut for the Gold Sox and received a warm welcome from the fans at McBean.

The Potters are back in action tomorrow night as they welcome back the Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox to McBean for game two of a four game opening series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05pm for squirt gun giveaway night courtesy of Astro Air Design.
