FORMER BIG LEAGUER MIKE MARJAMA NAMED MANAGER

Lincoln, CA - The Lincoln Potters have promoted former Major League Baseball player Mike Marjama to manager for the 2024 season. Marjama served as an assistant coach for the Potters the past two seasons and will take over for outgoing manager Jon Peters.

“We couldn’t be more excited for this new era of Potters baseball.” General Manager and President Matt Lundgren said. “Marj checks all the boxes for someone you would want to run a Summer Collegiate Baseball team. He’s local, has a wealth of experience playing baseball at nearly every level all over the world, and he’s an incredible leader that players and coaches respect and trust.”

Marjama has a diverse baseball background and is originally from Granite Bay, CA where he graduated from Granite Bay High School in 2007. He went on to play college baseball locally at Sacramento City College and then onto Long Beach State University. While in college he played summer ball in both the Cape Cod and Northwoods Leagues.

Marjama was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 23rd round of the 2011 MLB Draft. After moving up the minor league ranks and a couple trades, he made his Major League debut with the Seattle Mariners in September of 2017. He played parts of three seasons for the Mariners, including being named their Opening Day starter in 2018. He also spent time in the Dominican Winter League and Australian Baseball League.

I want to personally thank Clifton, Isabel, Matt & the entire Potters Organization for the opportunity.” Marjama said. “My mission moving forward will be to provide the most collaborative, innovative, and entertaining environment, for not only the players, but our fans and community as well.” he added.

The newly named skipper has already hit the ground running assembling his staff and recruiting a talented roster. Stay tuned for a follow up announcement outlining the coaching staff for the 2024 season.
