Potters Drop Series Finale

Matt Lopez records 2 hits in the Potters loss.

Potters lost on Sunday night by a score 15-11. The Rogues jumped out to an early 7-0 lead fater 2 innings thanks to 5 unearned runs in the first inning against starting pitcher Hector Sepulveda. The Potters would respond with scoring 7 of the next 8 runs thanks to a 2 run double and RBI groundout for Brennan Rozzel, who had 3 hits in the ball game, 2 run single for Larry Fonseca, who had 2 hits in the game, a wild pitch, and a Brian Morley double, who also had 3 hits in the ball game. After 3 innings the score was 8-7. The rogues then proceeded to score 7 of the next 8 runs to put them up 15-8 after 7 and a half innings. The Potters scored 3 runs in the 8th and 9th innings but it was not enough to comeback against the Rogues. Manager Ryan Stevens said, "We have to limit the free passes in the game and we walked too many guys again and they hurt us because of it." The Potters also left 11 men on base during the game. "We had chances to score but we didn't come through, we've got to look to just stay up the middle not hit the homerun all the time." The Potters fall to 24-18 and the Rogues improve to 24-19 but still trail by half a game for 2nd place in the Great West League. 

Hector Sepulveda got the start and only last 2 innings allowing 5 hits, 7 runs only 2 earned, 4 walks, and struck out 2. He took the loss in the game. Eli Garcia worked the next 3 innings and allowed 7 hits 5 runs, 1 walk and stuck out 3. Ian Manzo and Logan Wurm both worked 2 innings out of the bullpen only allowing 1 run each.  Brandon Ross of the Rogues earned the win going 3 and a third out of the bullpen while allowing 4 hits 3 runs and 2 walks. Rogues pitching didn't record it's first strikeout of the game until the 9thwhen Gabe Smith struck out the side in the inning. 

The Potters head out onto the road for a series against the Gold Sox, Manager Ryan Stevens said "Hopefully our pitching can right the ship and get us back to playing some good baseball. Our lefties were good against Klamath, look for them to get it going again. Our offensive appraoch needs to be tweeked and we'll see those adjustments in the next series."
