Potters Score 18 Runs on 22 Hits to Beat the Heat

The Potters’ offense came together in an 18 run game supported by 22 hits to defeat the Chico Heat, 18-2. The game was highlighted by an eight run fourth inning and a complete game pitched by Kennith Pettibone.

Pettibone allowed seven hits, two runs, two walks and struck out three in his nine innings of work earning his first win of the season.

The Potters struck first in the top of the first when Austen Swift hit an RBI single to score Jake Boyd.

The offense continued in the top of the second when the Potters added three more runs to their score. Will Law hit an RBI triple to score Ambrose Romero and Cameron Castaneda. Jake Boyd then hit an RBI single to score Law.

The Heat struck back in the bottom of the second cutting the Potters lead to 4-2 but those were the only runs the Heat would get and the Potters added more insurance runs in the top of the third making the score 8-2. Jacob Allen hit an RBI double to score Braden De Benedictus and Romero. Law then hit another RBI, this time a single, scoring Castaneda and J. Allen.

But the offense wasn’t done yet. The top of the fourth consisted of 10 hits and eight runs to bring the score to 16-2. Castaneda hit an RBI single to score De Benedictus. Law hit an RBI double to score Romero, Castaneda and J. Allen. Boyd scored and then Derek Molina hit a two-run home run to score Law. Romero hit an RBI single to score De Benedictus.

In the fifth inning, the scoring ended for both teams with Boyd scoring again right before Molina hit his second home run of the night making the score 18-2 in the top of the fifth.

Jake Boyd went 3-for-5 with an RBI and three runs, Derek Molina went 3-for-4 with five RBIs and two runs, Braden De Benedictus went 3-for-5 with three runs, Ambrose Romero and Cameron Castaneda both went 3-for-6 with an RBI and three runs, J. Allen went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs and Will Law went 3-for-6 with two runs and a huge total of seven RBIs.

The Lincoln Potters are 7-1 on the season and in first place in the Great West League. Come watch them as they return home to McBean Stadium on Wednesday, June 7th to take on the Chico Heat. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
