Potters Pitching Throws Shutout

Swift Drives his 6th home run of the season.

The Potters Swept the Klamath Falls Gems after Saturday Night's 9-0 shutout victory. The Potters got an All-Star Level performance from starter Jakob Frederick. Frederick went 6 innings allowing only 4 hits, 1 walk and striking out 7 over the 6 innings. "That was probably the best I've seen him pitch all summer. He located his fastball, had a good changeup and good curveball. When he locates the fastball, the guy is tough to hit and he proved that tonight." said Manager Ryan Stevens after the game when asked about his starter. Jakob Frederick was named the Great West League pitcher of the week after the performance, Frederick said "I went out there and tried to attack. Wurm was good behind the plate, called a good game and helped me out back out there."

The bullpen combination of Ewan Armstrong, Cody Lindsey, and Tyler Cochran fired 3 scoreless lnnings allowing 3 walks, 2 hits and struck out 2. "We ask our reliever to come out and attack the zone and tonight we got exactly that. They attacked and got out defense involved which is what they are trying to do." The defense for the Potters only committed 1 error in the game on foul ball that dropped. When asked about the recent surge of good play from the defense Ryan Stevens said "When the pitchers throw strikes the defense is always on their toes and ready for the ball and that's what we've gotten here recently. It's good for our defense to get going now as we get close to playoffs, going to keep us in a lot of games."

The Potters offense scored 5 runs in the first inning for the 2nd night in a row as they got 2 run singles from Kyle Johnson and Kenny LeBeau. The Potters would get one more in the third inning on a Brennan Rozell sac fly. Austen Swift would hit a solo home run in the 4th inning, his 6th of the seaon. Charles Middleton would single home 2 more runs in the 7th inning to make it a 9-0 game. Middleton went 2-5 with 2 RBI and Austen Swift went 3-5 with 2 runs scored in the game. The Potters improve to 28-20 and the Gems fall to 18-31 heading into the All-Star Break.

The Potters will be back in town on Tuesday to start a series against the Yuba Sutter Gold Sox to begin the 6 games in 6 day stretch to end the final homestand of the season. You can buy tickets here: Tickets
