The Lincoln Potters won Tuesday night’s CCL game against the Prune Packers in dramatic fashion. It took extra innings, but Lincoln sealed its fifth win in a row after a walk off single by Chase Stanke sent the Potter faithful home happy.

The game started with a big first inning for the Packers as they put up three runs in the opening frame. The Potters responded in the bottom of the first with a solo shot by Trey Furrey, but Healdsburg got the run back in the second inning to bring the lead to 4-1.

The tables turned in the fourth inning when the Potters put up four runs to take a 5-4 lead. Nolan McCarthy brought the first one home with an RBI single before Kevin Gutierrez drove two home with a double to knot things up. Chase Weissenborn followed suit by bringing Gutierrez home and giving the Potters the advantage.

The Potters widened the gap to 9-4 in the sixth with a pair of two-RBI singles by Jeffrey David and Trey Furrey, but Healdsburg wouldn’t go down without a fight.

The Prune Packers chipped away with a solo shot in the seventh before rallying for a four-run eighth inning to tie things up. The Potters had the bases loaded in the ninth but were unable to bring the winning run home. Instead it was Chase Stanke who did that in the tenth inning to deliver a 10-9 victory for the Potters and pick up a much needed league win.

Five different pitchers were used by Lincoln in the contest. Anthony Susac started the game and went four innings, allowing four runs but just one earned on five hits. Mason Hilton took over in the fifth and gave up just one hit in the outing, a solo shot to Brayden Runion of Healdsburg.

Connor Gibson and Hunter Hayes each went one inning, but it was Nate Kujawski who earned the win in relief by retiring the side in order in the tenth.

The Potters hit the road to face Healdsburg once again on Wednesday before returning to McBean Thursday to take on the Sonoma Stompers.
