Potters Sweep Weekend with Win Over Oaks

The Potters won their first matchup of the season with the Palo Alto Oaks to conclude a weekend sweep for Lincoln. The Oaks got the scoring started in the top of the 1st, but the Potters followed with 2 runs of their own on a Charles Midlleton triple and a Zach Patterson sac fly. Like in the previous games, the Potters would never relinquish the lead again. They would end up scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the 2nd, capped off by a 2 RBI single from Daniel Susac. The Oaks would score 2 runs on a home run in the top of 4th inning and then get another run in the 5th to make it a 7-4 game. With the bases loaded and 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th inning, Trey Furrey would single home 2 runs to make it 9-4. The Potters bullpen would make it hold up in the end and the Potters won their 3rd in a row 8th in their last 9 games. Potters are clicking on all accounts on offense and defense in the last few games. The team is now 12-3 on the season, and looks to continue this strong play as the season goes on.

Trey Furrey and Michael Shoenberge each had 3 hits on the night for the Potters. Jorge Bojorquez, Daniel Susac, and Charles Middleton at the top of the lineup each had 2 hits on the night. The Potters top of the lineup has been strong all season, with Susac and Middleton being mainstays in the front 3 spots with Bojorquez and Eddie Park trading off on the leadoff spot. Middleton led the team with 3 RBI for the Potters. The Potters bullpen followed Bradley Wilcotts strong performance with 5 innings of 1 run baseball with 3 hits, 1 walk, and 6 strikeouts. Marlin Brucato struck out 3 hitters in his 1 inning of work, and Cody Jensen worked a 3 up 3 down 9th inning to close the door on the game.
