Potters Earn Comeback win against Gold Sox

The Potters got the come from behind victory against the Gold Sox on Tuesday night. The Potters scored 2 in the bottom half of the first to get the scoring started. The Gold Sox responded with a 3 run homerun to centerfield to give the Sox a 3-2 lead. Potters responded with one of their own in the 2nd. The Gold Sox would score single runs in both the 3rd and 4th innings but got 3 more runs in the 5th to make it an 8-3 game, the largest deficit of the night for the Potters. Potters started their comeback effort with RBI groundouts in both the 5th and 6th innings. In the 7th, Trey Furrey doubled home Charles Middleton, who doubled to lead off the inning. The Gold Sox got one back on a passed ball in the top of the 8th. The Potters would load the bases up in the bottom of the 8th without putting the ball in play. After a pitching change, The Potters got a single from Nathan Martorella to make the game 9-7. Charles Middleton tied the game on a single and then Daniel Susac followed with a double down the line to give the Potters a 11-9 lead. Cody Jensen would strike out 2 in the ninth to close out the game and give the Potters the win. Jack Horn picked up the win, Cody Jensen earned the save and the Potters improve to 8-2 in the young season.

Jack Horn came into the game in the 5th and kept the Potters in it by only allowing one unearned run over 3 1/3 innings in relief. That performance boosted the Potters offense. Charles Middleton continued his hot streak in recent games reaching base in every plate appearance but one. Trey Furrey also stays hot with 3 RBI on the night. Daniel Susac also picked up two RBI and stayed hot at the plate with 2 hits of his own. The offense compiled 10 walks while only striking out 4 times. Potters plate discipline has improved since the opening night against the Gold Sox in Lincoln. Potters defense was sharp in the field as well. Isiah Garcia, and Jack Haley made several nice plays for the Potters pitching staff.
