Potters Beat Rival Packers with 7-run 2nd Innning

The Lincoln Potters evened up the season series with rival Healdsburg on Sunday. The Packers scored single runs in the first 2 innings of the game off starter Bradley Wilcott. For the 2nd straight game however, the Potters erupted for 7 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Keshawn Ogans got the scoring started with an RBI single, then after an Eddie Park double, Jorge Bojorquez singled them both home to give the Potters a lead they would not relinquish. After a costly error, Trey Furrey would add to the lead to make it 6-2. The Potters would get another run and maintain a 7-2 advantage. The Packers would slowly chip away at the lead by scoring a run in the 5th and 2 runs in the 6th. Potters would counter with 2 runs of their own in the 6th and be able to hold onto to the lead, taking the game 9-7. Nate Kujawski took the win and Eli Garcia picked up the save. The Potters improve to 4-2 and have won 3 in a row after a slow start to the home season.

Trey Furrey had a big night at the plate for the Potters, picking up 3 hits including a double. The Potters have been getting consistent performances out of the top of the lineup and that continued as each of the Potters first 4 hitters reached base twice on the night. Daniel Susac reached base 3 times on the night and continues his stellar play at the plate. Potters pitching struck out 12 on the game, including 4 from Zach Voelker. The Potters also did give up three home runs in the game, but they were all solo home runs that didn’t cost the team.
