Potters Out Draw Colt 45s

The Lincoln Potters found themselves victorious Tuesday night, out drawing the Redding Colt 45s on their way to an 8-3 win. The Potters collected 10 hits on the night, including two home runs that powered the team to victory. Nolan Murphy received the win after a solid outing in which he struck out three and allowed only four hits in his 4.0 innings of work. The bullpen was dominant as well for the Potters, allowing only one run in their 5.0 innings of relief, including a Radd Thomas ninth inning that included two strikeouts to seal the victory for Lincoln. The offense got started early with Lorenzo Debrecht (2 R, 1 H) leading off the bottom of the first inning with a double that found its way into the gap in left center. After an Isaiah Garcia (1 RBI, 1 R) single, Alex Schroeder (1 HR, RBI) smoked a three-run home run over the left field fence to give the Potters an early 3-0 lead. In the bottom of the third inning, Matt Lopez (2 RBI, 1 HR) came to the plate and extended the lead as he obliterated a ball well over the wall in left field, giving Lincoln a four-run advantage. With Redding striking back for three in the top of the fifth inning, the Potters quickly struck back in the bottom half of the inning to reclaim their lead. Larry Fonseca (1 RBI, 1 H) lead-off the inning with a double that dropped along the right field line, followed by Debrecht reaching base after taking a pitch off of his ribs. Charles Middleton (1 H, 1 RBI) then drove in Fonseca with a RBI single up the middle to extend the lead to 5-3. Debrecht later scored on a Garcia sacrifice fly, with Middleton following soon after on a Lopez sacrifice into center that put the Lincoln lead at 7-3. The Potters threatened again in the eighth inning as they loaded the bases by way of four walks, but were only able to push across one run to finish off the night. Zach Bushling (3 H) collected himself a multi-hit game as he led the team with three hits. The Potters overall record now improves to 26-18-1 with the victory. Lincoln will next square off with Team APS on Friday, August 2, as we will be auctioning off the Potter’s alternate Orange jerseys! Bids will start at $40 with an option to purchase the jerseys outright for only $75! The gates will open at 5:35 p.m. with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
