Potters Score Six in 9th and Win with a Walk Off

The Potters walked it off against the San Francisco Seals Thursday night at McBean Stadium, scoring six runs in the bottom of the ninth, to win 8-7. Jake Friedrick started the game for Lincoln going 5.0 and giving up just three runs (2 ER). Brian Martinez and Tyler Mead threw shoutout innings before giving up the ball to Ian Miller and Kale Stout where they tallied seven total runs. Nolan Murphy got the vulture win, his first win of the summer. Jordyn Berry was the only Potter in the beginning of the game to see the San Francisco Seals pitching well. Berry hit a screaming line drive, which allowed Lane Field to score. Berry also hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth, bringing in Zach Patterson for another run. However, the real story started in the bottom of the ninth inning where once again, Jordyn Berry started off the inning with a base knock (2-3, double and 2 RBI’s for the night), after which Seals pitcher, Drew Stahl walked four straight batters, making the score 7-3 Seals. San Francisco then made a pitching change, bringing Miles Minier to the mound. Minier threw over the plate to Lorenzo Debrecht, who hit a bases-clearing double, reducing the Seals lead 7-6. Minier then walked two more batters before Alex Schroeder hit a line drive to right field, scoring two and walking it off! Come out tomorrow night for the second game of the series against the San Francisco Seals. It is also Ryan Stevens Bobblehead Night, in honor of our Potters Skipper sponsored by Feather Falls Brewery! And do not forget to for this coming mark your calendars Saturday night for Star Wars Night and fireworks after the game!
