Potters Stay Hot, Scoring 16 in Victory

The Potter bats stayed hot Friday night, as an 11-run fourth inning propelled Lincoln to a dominant 16-2 win over the visiting Solano Mudcats. Connecting for a total of 15 hits on the night, the Potters also showed patience at the plate, drawing 11 walks, as every single batter reached based at least once in the game. Starting pitcher Keith Walker received the win after a dominant performance on the mound, throwing 5.0 innings, giving up only one hit and striking out three Mudcats batters. The bullpen followed Walker’s lead, as Michael Potter, Thomas Greely, Eli Garcia and Blake Hearns combined for 4.0 innings of work, allowing only one hit between the four of them, each notching a strikeout. Entering the fourth inning with a 3-2 lead, the Potters blew the game wide open, bringing 16 batters to the plate and scoring 11 runs in the inning off of 7 hits. After an error, a bunt single and a walk, Lorenzo Debrecht (1 HR, 4 RBI) got the scoring started in the inning with a line drive, RBI single. After a sacrifice fly from Tanner O’Tremba (2BB, 1 RBI) brought in another run, a hits batsman, a walk and another hits batsman brought the Lincoln lead to 7-2. A Bryce Beauchamp (1 2B, 1 RBI) RBI single extended the lead, before Isaiah Garcia (1 2B, 2 1B, 2 RBI) cleared the bases with a ground rule double, followed up directly by Debrecht capping off the inning with his second homerun of the series, fourth on the season, to put the Potters ahead 14-2. They would add two more runs in the seventh to extend their lead. Garcia led the team with three hits, being one of five Potter hitters to have a multi-hit game. The batters weren’t the only ones who got in on the action though, as Potter pitchers Cade Farr (1-1, 1 1B) and Nolan Murphy (1 BB) received plate appearances and made the most of them, with Farr roping a line drive single into the left field gap and Murphy showing his knowledge of the strike zone drawing a walk in his lone plate appearance. Potters now move to 10-8 in the CCL, and hold an overall record of 18-12-1 on the season. Lincoln looks to clinch a series win against the Solano Mudcats on Saturday, July 13, as we host Hispanic Heritage Night presented by El Portal Taqueria!
